Terms of Use

Using Beach Notes

Beach Notes is an independent guide to beaches across South Devon, South Hams, North Devon, North Cornwall and South Cornwall. By using this site you agree to the terms below.

Information is for planning, not safety decisions

Our guides describe what we have seen and noted on this coastline. Conditions change constantly, so treat everything here as background for planning a visit rather than a live statement about whether a beach is safe on any given day. Always check local signage, lifeguard advice and current conditions before entering the water.

Tide and water-quality data

Tide times shown on beach pages are predictions from the ADMIRALTY EasyTide service for a nearby reference station. They are approximations for an individual beach and can be affected by weather, pressure and local conditions.

Water-quality information comes from the Environment Agency Bathing Water Quality service. A classification is an annual rating based on past sampling - it is not a statement that the water is clean or safe to swim in today. We present this third-party data as it is supplied and we cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness or availability.

No warranty

The site is provided on an "as is" basis. We do our best to keep guides accurate and up to date, but we make no warranty that the content is complete, current or error free. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site or from reliance on anything published here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Content and copyright

The written guides, photographs and design on Beach Notes belong to us unless stated otherwise. You are welcome to read, share and link to our pages. Please do not republish substantial parts of the content, or use it to train or populate another product, without permission.

Third-party sites

The site uses Google Analytics to measure visits and interactions, and Google Fonts to provide the site's typeface. We also link to external sources such as Swimfo, Safer Seas & Rivers, webcam providers, local businesses and travel information. These services and sites are not under our control, and their own terms and privacy policies apply. Our use of analytics is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. The version published on this page is the current one, so it is worth checking back if you rely on anything here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
