Local perspective

Local notes

Hope Cove is worth considering when the open coast is rougher. The headlands on either side reduce some of the incoming swell, so the harbour beach often remains calmer across more of the tide. Inner Hope and Outer Hope also make for an enjoyable walk through the old fishing village.

In settled conditions, the reduced swell and extra shelter can make Hope Cove a practical place for a first paddleboarding lesson. Parking gets tight in summer, so arrive early if you want to stay near the beach.
